Clarisas de San Diego (The Nuns of the Order of Saint Clare)
The Convent was founded by Catalina García Fernandez in 1670, starting from a female college. It is especially known due to its caramel coated almonds, typical from Alcalá, which makes it a necessary stop for any tourist. In its front it is possible to see and image of San Diego and the shield of Cardenal Cisneros, as well as the monument to Archbishop Carrillo, placed on the door. As a curiosity, if you see many padlocks on the railing that surrounds the sculpture, it is due to the existing tradition by which the militaries of the parachuting division leave their padlock on that railing when they finish their military service.
