Founded by the Archbishop of Toledo in 1618, the image of Saint Bernardo can be seen in its front. The temple is typically Italian, being this the first implementation of this style that could be found in Spain for over one Century. The benches are a great place for sitting for a while for a rest; a wonderful place where to feel yourself transported into a romantic environment and, perhaps, be inspired for developing a love declaration.
The Tenorio's Tower, constructed by Archbishop Pedro Tenorio in the 14th Century, who's shields are still kept in the tower, can be viewed, from the Bernardas' Square, at the corner of the Eastern side of the Arbhbishop's palace. It is worth visiting the three floors of the tower, currently transformed into a Christian Library. To visit the archbishop's palace is also a necessary step when visiting Alcalá.
