The starting point is the "Plaza de Cervantes" (Cervantes' square), which we can visit in the first place or leave it for the end.

Standing under the statue of Cervantes, looking towards the Town-hall, we turn left and start to walk towards "Pedro Gumiel" Street, which leads us towards the "Plaza de San Diego" (Saint Diego's Square), where we will find the Universidad Cisneriana.

We will leave the "Plaza de San Diego", through the "Beatas" Street, next to the "Clarisas de San Diego" Convent. This street will drive us towards "Libreros" Street. Once that we are in it, we will find the "Santa María la Mayor" Church to our right.

After visiting this church, we will walk for a few meters along Libreros Street (following the direction towards Cervantes' square), turning then to our right towards "Tinte" street, and, after to our left, towards "Santiago" street, which will follow until we reach its end, where we will find the "Plaza de las Bernardas" (Bernardas' Square). In this beautiful square we can visit the "Bernardas" Church and the "Palacio Arzobispal" (Archbishops Palace).

Leave then the Madrid´s Door through the "Cardenal Cisneros" Street until you reach the "Plaza de los Santos Niños" (Saint Children Square).

If you have already visited the City Wall when you arrived by car into Alcalá, you can skip this point and go to the next. If not, leave the Bernardas' Square through the O'Donell Street and walk until you reach the main street. Then turn to the left and continue walking along the City wall, turning always to your left when you reach a corner, until you reach, to Madrid´s Door.

In the "Plaza de los Santos Niños"(Saint Children Square) you will see the "Magistral" Cathedral of Alcalá de Henares, the only one, together with that of San Pedro, which holds this label.

From the Saint Children Square, we will see the "Mayor" Street (Major Street), which we will follow until we reach again the Cervantes' square, of course, after visiting Cervantes' birth house, which is located in the "Mayor" street, on our left, was walk towards the Cervantes square

This route, makes it possible to visit the main places in Alcalá de Henares. Nevertheless, there are many other places to visit in Alcalá that are not included in this route, thus we suggest that, after you have finished this route, which allows you to gain a basic means of orientation within the town, you purchase a map of the town in order to start visiting some of the remaining beautiful places.

(We strongly recommend that you follow this route twice: one during the day and the other at night)
