The Castle of Chinchón was built between 1950 and 1958, on top of the ruins of the previous castle, which was built during the Catholic Kings period and was severely damaged in 1520, during the course of an attack. In 1808, during three days of blockade, it was plundered and set on fire following the instructions of Marshal Galo Victor. Its last use, in the 20th Century until just a few years ago, has been as a production facility, producing a typical Spanish liquor (spirit) called "Anis".
