Fernando II, after rebuilding the main square of Ciudad Rodrigo, decided to suround it with a solid wall, which was built by Juan de Cabrera. The wall was built as a circle of 2.250 m, integrated by a battled wall, 8.36 m high and 2.10 m thick, outflanked by five towers, complemented by a second wall with a deffensive ditch which bordered all the city, except for the side that was already bordered by the Águeda River. Nowadays, it is a pleasure to go for a walk along the city-wall, which is still fully accesible.
