SAN GINÉS CHURCH
The Church of San Gines is located in the ample square of Santo Domingo. This church was the old convent of Santo Domingo. The Dominicans came to this city due the 16th century. It must have been designed in a vaster manner, still the misfortunes of the archbishop of Toledo made it necessary to paralise the construction when only the ground floor nave had been built. Later, the apse front was closed by a simple wall. The construction never got to be restarted again. It has a nice front with a great flying arch, which, together with the solid buttresses build the portic of the church. This temple contains the Gothic sepulchers and nice painted boards which have been painted by the local painter Antonio del Rincón, who lived during the Catholic Kings’ period.
