SPAIN SQUARE
It is one of the most popular places in Madrid. Located nearby the Royal palace, this space was occupied, during the 17th and 19th Centuries by the military barrack hut of the Royal Palace’s guard. The most important element in the surroundings of the square is the Tower of Madrid, built in 1957, which, for a while, was considered to be highest concrete building in the world. In the center of the square there is a stoned obelisk, built in 1928, which is preceded by the monument to Cervantes, in front of which, Don Quijote and Sancho Panza are riding their horse and donkey, respectively. The square reached its current appearence just after the Spanish civil war.

DEBOD´S TEMPLE
The temple of Debod was built in the 4th Century before Christ. This temple was ceded to Spain in gratitude for the work of the archaeological mision that collaborated to rescue the temples of the Nubia Valley, which were about to be flooded by the reservoir of Aswan. The temple of Debod offers an excelent view of the “Casa de Campo” park, with the Guadarrama mountain range to the bottom, as well as the gardens of the Western Park. The temple of debod is located on top of the ruines of the old fortress of the mountain.
