
MAYOR SQUARE
The Mayor Square is a rectangled square with a large number of balconies, formed by three-floor houses with are ended by capitals in the corners. This square has a very castellain character, and was the place were the important events in Madrid used to, and still do, take place, such as bull-fights, Inquisition trials, festivity celebrations, etc. The reception of Carlos III, when he arrived from Italy, took place in this square, as well as it was the place where the patron of Madrid, Saint Isidro, was beatified in 1621. The square is presided by the statue of Felipe III, riding a horse. The southern side drives you to the Toled street, where the most important outdoor market place is installed every Sunday morning.
