MAYOR SQUARE
The major square is located in the highest point of the city. From here, it is possible the reach the cathedral, huge temple of limestone which began to be built in 1525. The cathedral of Santa María, located in the Major square of Segovia, is a huge temple made of limestone which began to be constructed in 1525. The old cathedral, in a Romanic style, was opposite the Alcazar (the fortress) and suffered the consequences of the Communities’ War. It was then when Carlos V proposed to build a new cathedral.
